Our programmes are created by our in-house team and administered to our young members by an energetic, passionate team of volunteers. We need the help of dedicated volunteers to deliver citizenship and life skills education to young Indians who will become active citizens and fight for their rights and for a more democratic India. Read about our cause, and join us as a Volunteer Educator.
If you have a few hours to spend per week, and enjoy interacting with children and young people, this could be the perfect way to use your spare time. If you care deeply about empowering young Indians to participate in creating an equitable and sustainable society where every citizen is an active participant, you would be a great addition to our Volunteer team.
Here are excerpts from our volunteer stories. Read more about our current volunteer educators here and their stories.
She believes that citizenship education is “the need of the hour”. She says, “Instead of telling them, you should be doing this, when they say, oh, we should be doing this … it’s a real ‘Aha!’ moment.”
“When children realise that it wasn’t so bad, that feeling of being powerful, that you can influence your environment, influence your surroundings, influence other people” is something she sees often and feels proud of.
Ravikala became a volunteer with CMCA eight years ago when her son’s school adopted the CMCA Club programme. Since then, she says, she has become much more confident herself, thanks to teaching active citizenship to children.
Taking CMCA’s curriculum to children with neuromuscular and developmental disabilities, she notes that it is important to include children with disabilities in Citizenship Education, since “This is what we teach in the programme, equality … this programme has to go to students of all ranges. That is the main reason I’m in this.”
Volunteering with CMCA has been an extreme pleasure. It’s been around 6 years with the Nagpur CMCA Program. I’m so happy to see the changes that we created, not only in students, but also in teachers and volunteers.
As a volunteer, I have witnessed first-hand the incredible difference CMCA makes to the lives of young people, their communities and neighbourhoods. It has also helped me to become a better person!
If you care deeply about our cause and you think you can contribute, we have many opportunities in store for you.
You can join us as a Volunteer Educator to teach democratic values in schools and colleges. This requires your commitment for a few hours a week during the full academic year. We provide training on our curriculum and teaching materials.
You can also contribute in other ways. We are always on the lookout for talented graphic designers, content writers, filmmakers and more!
Register on the form below to sign up as a future Educator or other role. Look out for an email and SMS from us regarding the next orientation session for volunteers, which you can attend for more information about all of CMCA’s volunteering activities.
