Life skills Education In India

Pourakarmikas, or Municipal Sanitation Workers, carry out the important task of collecting waste from every doorstep. They diligently manage the disposal of solid waste, even in the face of challenges posed by various waste disposal practices. Our cities’ progress toward efficient solid waste management, including waste segregation at the source, has been a collective effort.

It is against this backdrop that CMCA created this unique event- Pourakarmika Day, to celebrate the unsung heroes who work tirelessly to ensure our city is clean. CMCA’s students have been celebrating the Pourakarmikas since 2007!

How is it celebrated:

CMCA members visit a ward office close to their school or invite BBMP Pourakarmikas to the school assembly and thank them for their contributions to keeping our city clean. Some schools take this as an opportunity to thank the school staff.
